How
can you increase your metabolism?
Lets face it folks, if
having a great body was easy then everyone would have one!
Some of you may be asking yourself right now if it
really is possible to
increase your metabolism. The
fact is that we are all genetically different and what works for one
person is not always going to work for another. Some people
can eat pizza all day long and not gain a pound while the rest of us
just look at a pizza and gain five. It may not be fair but that is the way the cards are
dealt and for us easy weight gainers we just have to work with what
we were born with.

Don't give up if you
have a slower metabolism!
With all that being
said, don't give up hope yet! Just because someone has a slower metabolism it does not mean that they cannot acquire the body
of their dreams. You may have to work harder than someone who
was born with a faster metabolism but with some discipline there is
no reason why you should not be able to
speed up your
metabolism to
accomplish your goals.
You have to learn the
ways to increase your metabolism (our
fat burning exercises and the
recommended food list articles are a good place to start). In fact, there are a lot of things that people do everyday to
contribute to the slowing down of their metabolism. How many
people do you know eat once or twice a day and are still overweight?
Or are you in the same predicament yourself? Even if they eat
the wrong foods the overweight problem has to be contributed to more
than just the amount of calories consumed. Don't get me wrong,
counting calories is important but
one of the major misconceptions out
there is that in order to successfully lose weight all you have to
do is eat fewer calories then your body
burns. Although this will work for the short-term, in the long
run your headed for failure.
The problem with only eating once or twice a day is
that you are contributing to the slowing of your metabolism.
Your body is an amazing machine that in extreme circumstances is
going to make adjustments to survive. To demonstrate this
point, lets use an example a person that falls into freezing water.
As the person becomes submerged in the freezing water the blood
moves from the limbs to the chest. In a nut shell the body
does this to keep the heart pumping in a last effort to make the
necessary adjustments for survival.
What does this have to do with your metabolism
and how does it help you increase your metabolism?
Well, now imagine what happens when you only eat once or twice a
day. Irregardless of the amount of calories that your are
consuming your body is going to hold on to as many calories as
possible. With irregular feedings your body doesn't know when
it will receive nutrients again so it will store the unused calories
as fat. By eating only once or twice a day you are putting your
body in survival mode like a bear does when it hibernates in the
winter. This is why the fad diets and crash diets only work
for the short-term (checkout diet examples in our
free diet plans). Yes if you reduce your caloric intake you
will initially drop weight but in a short amount of time your
body will make the necessary adjustments to be able to function off
of its current caloric consumption. In both examples, the
freezing water and calorie reduction, your
body makes adjustments to increase its chances for survival.
If you believe that our
bodies are constantly trying to achieve a state of balance then you
also have to believe that
reducing your caloric intake alone will not give you the long-term results
that you are looking for. The key is to create a diet plan
where the body will increase your metabolism by becoming an efficient fat burning machine.
